Hambleton Hall Apartments

This 22,000ft2 project has created much-needed affordable housing in downtown Simcoe, Ontario. The former St. James United Church education centre, first built in 1957, has been used as church offices, a small chapel, Sunday School classrooms, and community uses including a commercial kitchen and a gymnasium for recreation. Many of the vintage mid-century modern elements of the building remain, including the chapel space, some of the stained glass, and some of the original floor and wood ceilings. The project includes 40 apartments within the original building ranging from studios to one-bedrooms and barrier free units. A 2,000 ft2 addition wasadded to the north side of the building, along with planning for community gardens and outdoor amenity spaces.
